Inpainting
Inpainting lets you repaint a specific area of an image you already generated - fix a detail, change an outfit, add an accessory, or redraw a region - while keeping the rest of the image untouched. It always produces a new image; your original is never modified.
Available on Yiff Master and above
Opening Inpaint
- Open one of your images (from your gallery or its image page).
- Click the Inpaint button in the actions panel.
- You land in the generator, in inpaint mode, with the image loaded and a brush ready.
Painting the Mask
You tell the AI where to repaint by painting a mask over the area you want to change - the painted area shows up as a translucent red overlay. Only that region is regenerated; everything else stays exactly as it was. Keep the mask focused on the area you want to edit - don't paint the whole image.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Brush | Paint the area to repaint |
| Eraser | Remove part of the mask |
| Size | Brush / eraser thickness |
| Undo / Redo | Step back and forward through your strokes |
| Clear | Erase the whole mask and start over |
Describing the Change
Below the canvas, the prompt (and optional negative prompt) describe what should appear in the painted area. They work exactly like normal generation, with the same tag autocomplete. The prompt is prefilled with the source image's prompt for context - edit it down to describe just the region you are changing.
Example - to add a hat in the masked area: witch_hat, black_hat
Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Model | Which model repaints the region. Defaults to the image's original model; you can switch to any model included in your plan. |
| Creativity | How much the masked area is allowed to change (default 50%). Lower stays closer to the original; higher gives the AI more freedom. |
| Visibility | Public or private for the resulting image. |
The output size is inherited from the source image - you don't choose it in inpaint mode.
Generate & Iterate
- Paint the area, write the prompt, set the creativity.
- Click Generate - a new image appears below.
- Use Inpaint again to keep editing the freshly generated result (it becomes the new source) - chain as many edits as you like.
- Use Exit inpaint to leave inpaint mode and return to normal text-to-image generation.
Tips
- Paint a region, not the whole image. Inpaint is for localized edits; an empty or full-image mask is rejected.
- Paint slightly beyond the edge of what you want changed so the new content blends in cleanly.
- Start around 50% creativity. Raise it if the area barely changes; lower it if it drifts too far from the original.
- Keep the prompt focused on what should appear in the masked area.
- Each inpaint counts as 1 image from your plan quota, just like a normal generation.
